Baby Dedication

Psalm 127:3
³Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

In Salem, we believe that children are the heritage of the Lord, that as parents we are only custodian to bring them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord. They are gift from the Lord and they have to be given back to him. Dedicating the baby to God is an indication that you are willing to raise up the child to fulfill the purpose of God for his/her life. During dedication, the parents of the child avow themselves to the fact that they are prepared to ensure the child is spiritually nourished by exposing him/her to the things/ways of God.
Dedication of a male child is thirty days after delivery, while for a female child: it is sixty days.
This not withstanding, the mother of a new baby can start coming to the church immediately she has the strength to do that if staying at home for the cleansing period is boring to her.
